Our Story
I built CV Collective because I kept seeing the same thing: brilliant women who had no idea how remarkable they were on paper.
Not because they lacked experience. Not because they lacked ability. But because somewhere along the way - through the career breaks, the pivots, the years of quietly doing extraordinary things without anyone handing them a title for it - they had stopped seeing themselves clearly.
After thirty years in marketing - from the graduate scheme at Harrods to heading up teams in Scottish & Newcastle, through senior commercial roles at Heineken UK, to owning and operating my own businesses from a standing start - I know what it takes to build a brand that stands out. And I know that the most consistently undervalued brand in any room is a woman who hasn’t been shown how to market herself.
I’ve read thousands of CVs. I’ve made hiring decisions at every level. I know exactly what makes someone stand out and what causes a truly exceptional candidate to be passed over. And when I found myself having to write my own CV after separating from my husband, suddenly aware of how easy it is to freeze in front of a blank page, even when you know better - I understood it from the inside too.
I challenged myself to do what I had always coached others to do: look honestly at everything I’d built and give it the value it deserved. The businesses. The corporate career. The three decades of running a home, raising four children, one with long-term complex needs, doing it largely on my own, and somehow keeping three dogs in the mix too. I wrote a CV that told the whole story. And it worked.
CV Collective exists because every woman deserves that moment of clarity. The moment you look at your own experience and think: Actually, that’s a lot. Actually, I’m ready. Actually, let’s go.
Whatever stage you’re at, I’m here to help you.
Meet the Founder
I’m Gail, founder of CV Collective, hands-on marketeer, business leader and mentor, Autism advocate, and solo mum of four, one of whom has long-term complex needs. I also have three dogs, because apparently quiet isn’t really my thing.
I’ve spent three decades working in the corporate world and running my own businesses. I’ve read thousands of CVs and taken hundreds of hiring decisions. I know what works, what doesn’t, and why so many brilliant women fall through the gaps.
I also know what it feels like to sit down and write your own CV when life has thrown you a curveball - and to have to find the courage to back yourself on a page. That experience changed everything about how I do this work.
My approach is warm, direct and entirely focussed on you. I ask the questions that get to the heart of what you’ve built. I find the story you haven’t been telling yourself. And I give you the tools, the words, and the confidence to go after what you deserve.
You’ve already done the hard part. Let me help you show the world.
